My Wordpress skills are steadily progressing, I’m developing another blog for work. It isn’t quite ready enough to show here yet :). We are hiring a designer to help out making a front page (a special one, not just a list of recent posts). I think it is the guy who designed The Roar - a site that impressed me when I found out it was 100% made through Wordpress. I like seeing what it can do. We have some access to Ad:tech in Sydney through work. Today we were pretty busy, and our pass got a workout. I just went to the two keynote sessions. The second one wasn’t too good, but the Facebook one was good. Mike Murphy (VP of Media Sales, Facebook) presented it. To be honest, his presenting skills weren’t that good. At work, we set up a Facebook event for a major event (1000+ guests) that we are organising and promoting for a client. It is a “technical” event, so the audience are expected to be pretty tech-savvy, and (we assume) a significant proportion of them use social networking sites. In the last two weeks or so, we’ve had ~50 people add the event to their profiles.
I’m not sure how valuable this will be, because as far as I am aware, we did not use any link tracking to see which people are coming from the Facebook page to the rego page, and we do not have access to the site stats for that page. Continue reading ‘Using Facebook to promote: first impressions’
